- Unlike most chocolate makers, Grain de Sail imports cocoa from Peru and the Dominican Republic via a cargo sailboat before crafting it in Morlaix, France.
- Producers earn 50% more income through fair trade than conventional production methods. Grain de Sail contributes 10 cents per chocolate bar sold to the farmers and organizations they collaborate with, supporting organic agroforestry. With Fairtrade currently representing only 1% of global cocoa production, Grain de Sail is proud to be part of this initiative.
- The Grain de Sail vessel is the world’s first wind-powered modern cargo sailboat, reducing carbon emissions by 90–97% and significantly lowering/eliminating NOx, VOx, and SOx emissions. It also substantially reduces noise pollution and the risk of collisions with marine life. (Source: ADEME - French Agency for Ecological Transition).
